Bible verses about strength
Strength for when there is none left. Passages about leaning on something steadier than yourself.
These passages are not about willpower. Almost all of them are about the opposite: someone who has run out and leans on someone else.
Paul writes “I can do all things through Christ” from prison, and in the same chapter explains he is talking about having learned to live with little. In 2 Corinthians he says something that sounds backwards: my strength is made perfect in weakness. And Isaiah promises new strength to those who wait, not to those who push harder.
It is the kind of strength that starts where your own runs out.
“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
Philippians 4:13 “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
Isaiah 40:31 “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
2 Corinthians 12:9 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
Psalms 46:1 “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.”
Ephesians 6:10 “The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.”
Psalms 28:7 “The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.”
Nahum 1:7 “The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.”
