Bible verses about God's love
Passages about a love that does not depend on how well you are doing.
These texts keep making the same point, and it is the one that is hardest to believe: the love comes first.
“We love him, because he first loved us.” “While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” None of them say “once you improve”. Romans 8 runs through a long list of things that might separate us: death, life, things present, things to come. Only to say that none of them can.
It is a love that does not depend on the streak you are on.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8 “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,”
Romans 8:38 “Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 8:39 “We love him, because he first loved us.”
1 John 4:19 “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.”
1 John 4:8 “The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.”
Zephaniah 3:17 “And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.”
